Charlotte-Davidson Game Back On
8/15/2008 - The Charlotte 49ers - Davidson Wildcats long-standing basketball series is back on. With the two programs seemingly at an impasse due to scheduling conflicts, Charlotte 49ers athletic director Judy Rose and Davidson athletic director Jim Murphy found a way to get The "Hornet's Nest" game back on the schedule, Friday. Niners Face Arizona State In Anaheim Classic Opener on ESPNU
8/6/2008 - ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, has announced the schedule of matchups for the 2008 Anaheim Classic, to be held on Thanksgiving weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center, adjacent to Disneyland. The second-year event will include 12 games in three days, and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPNU. The 49ers will face Arizona State in the first round (Thurs., Nov. 27, 6 pm PT/9 pm eastern, ESPNU). The winner will advance to Friday's semifinal at 9:30 PT (12:30 a.m. - Saturday, ET) to face either Baylor or Providence on ESPN2. Read Full Release
49ers Announce Men's Basketball Home/Away Opponents
7/3/2008 - The Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team has released its home and away opponents for the upcoming 2008-09 season. The schedule is highlighted by seven contests with 2008 NCAA Tournament teams and an appearance in ESPN's Anaheim Classic, which includes three NCAA and two NIT teams among its eight-team field. In all, the 49ers slate will include at least 12 games against 2008 post-season teams - six of which will be played at Halton Arena. Read Full Release
